The graduate students in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese cordially invite submissions for the 10th Annual Colloquium in Latin American and Peninsular Languages, Literatures and Cultures. This year's colloquium will be held in honor of Professor Samuel G. Armistead.  

Keynote Speakers • Linguistics: Milton Azevedo, Spanish and Portuguese Department, UC Berkeley • Literature: Esther Fernandez, Spanish Department, Sarah Lawrence College, NY.  

The organizing committee will consider papers exploring the following thematic areas: • American and Luso-Hispanic literary, comparative and transatlantic studies • Visual and film studies • Critical theory trajectories and debates • Spanish literature in the US Spanish as a heritage language in the US • Spanish and Portuguese phonetics, phonology and dialectology • Applied linguistics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, educational and anthropological linguistics • Cultural and gender studies in Latin American and the Iberian Peninsula • Siglo de Oro literary studies • Iberian literary and cultural studies. 

Submit your abstract [of 250 words or less]. Note: Abstracts can be written and delivered in Spanish, Portuguese and/or English. Each individual will be allowed 15 minutes to present. For inquiries, contact the UC Davis Colloquium Committee 2014 at ucdaviscolloquium2014@gmail.com.
